Natural Building Internship and Intensive Workshop (Sept 9-20, Sept 21-27)
September 9, 2008 to September 27, 2008
Please call for directions - do not google or mapquest without also talking to us (or prepare to get potentially lost)
We will host intern volunteers (work share arrangement) during the last 3 weeks of September, with an intensive (paid workshop) during the last week of September, from Sunday the 21st to Sunday 27th.
This workshop will be led by Bradley from ulinawi, the homestead next door to Moonshadow, and will focus on earthen building, cob and/or earthbags and rammed earth tires. Bradley has a degree in Natural Building from New College of California.
The workshop will also address foundation solutions like french drains, rubble trench foundations, and poured adobe floors.
More info from Bradley:
we’d like to let y’all know that we’re having a building intensive in september, on earthbag and timber framing. we’re going to be building every day for the next year, but we’re inviting all comers for internships for the last three weeks of september, with classes, trips, and talks on the last week in september, sunday 21 through saturday 27. cost is very nominal, as worktrade is expected.
classes will be on natural building principles and materials, plus whatever people want to learn. my fields of experience are solar power, natural building principles, earthbag, cob, timber framing, straw bale, sustainable timber harvest, permaculture, and salvage and scrap building.
“we” in this case is Ulinawi, a new community in a cluster of communities in the sequatchie valley of tennessee.

suggestion: if you could video tape the sessions, this would give those can not attend a chance to learn from the project..Video on cd and we can download it.

We do have the website setup for podcasting / videocasting… if someone will do the video editing and encoding, we can definitely post the videos.
That’s the plan… but we’ve not yet used the capability, and unfortunately video production is a very time-consuming process.

Hi! Love what you are doing.
Please check out my website and I would love you to put yourselves on the directory - free - so I can help promote you. My site is for everything to do with a greener living environment, and we certainly would include your building projects, any farming and gardening info. We don’t include food, wellness, nutrition, clothing. There is a category for events and if you have articles to educate, put those on too.
Let me know if you need help or have questions. (Tricia Baehr referred you.)
